ON FRIDAY, MAY 14, hundreds of members of the Brookfield Christian School family came together to renew acquaintances, reminisce, and consider the future of our mission. Many of the original founders of the school were on hand for the event. Alumni brought their own children, former staff members marveled at the growth, and all agreed that God’s hand can be clearly seen in the rich blessings of the past 40 years.
Visitors filled out question "tour cards." Clothing with the new school name and logo was unveiled and on sale for the first time. A photo timeline (shown above) spanned most of the upper floor hallway, and drew lots of attention as people looked back on some odd hair and clothing styles.
At 8:00 p.m., all gathered in the gym to be entertained by the current BCS band (shown below), and for a short program. Milt Kuyers, one of the original founders, opened with prayer and a recognition of other founding parents in the attendance. The audience sang Great is Thy Faithfulness.
Speakers included Principal Bob Wiers, Board members Pat Horne and Lee Fennema, current students Sarah Fennema, Zach Horne, Aimee Jungmann, and a closing prayer by parent Melissa Horne. Circle President Linda Huenink then presented Bob and Judy Wiers with a certificate for a stay at the American Club in Kohler, in gratitude for their faithful service to the school.
