Mrs. Mallory Huenink
Art
MALLORY HUENINK FIRST CAME TO BCS in the fall of 2008 as a student teacher, working with Dawn Otten in 2nd grade and Val Noldan in the art room. She returned as a full time teacher in the fall of 2009. Mallory loves the fact that at BCS she has the opportunity to get to know every student in the school, from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Mallory loves teaching art because there are infinite possibilities for students’ gifts and creativity to develop. She is constantly fascinated by the ideas students come up with to add their creativity and originality to the assigned works.
Mallory was born in Wauwatosa, WI and moved to Brookfield during grade school. She attended Elmbrook schools, graduating from Brookfield East in 2004. After high school, she attended Dordt College in Iowa, graduating with a double major in Elementary Education and K-12 Art Education. In 2008, she married Chad Huenink – a BCS graduate. In her free time Mallory enjoys running, baking, strong coffee, and watching movies.
Mrs. Huenink’s Mission Statement:
I have always felt a calling to teach. One of the most important aims of education is helping students gain confidence in the significance of their gifts, as well as the gifts of others, so that they will not be afraid to put them to good use in God’s kingdom
I believe that my role as an educator is to enable students to use their gifts in the world. Art is a great place to see these gifts and talents flourish. The art classroom provides a unique educational environment that creates opportunities for learning, sharing, creativity, curiosity, and mutual encouragement. When this environment is effectively developed it leads to the creation of beautiful art, but more importantly it leads to the beautiful development of skills, character and values that extend far beyond the art classroom.
I believe that every child I teach is unique, special, and worthy of individual attention and care. God knew each of us even before we were born, which is a profound aspect of every student to bear in mind at all times. Each student has been specifically created differently from all the others, and it will be their task throughout their lives to bear the image of God into the world using the gifts He has given them. As Philippians 1:6 states, “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
