Mrs. Maralea DeDecker
Technology
MARALEA DeDECKER, BCS Technology Teacher beginning with the 2008-09 school year, feels blessed to have the opportunity to teach the children about technology, and how it can help them to further God’s kingdom. She also wants to share her knowledge of computer skills to show how they can be used not only in their daily lives, but in their future jobs.
Maralea’s main goal is to help the children feel some control over what they are doing in their computer class, while knowing who is ultimately in control—Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. She plans to encourage the children to pray every day for guidance, and for help in living according to God’s will.
One of Maralea’s favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Maralea received her Bachelor of Business Administration - Management Information Systems Degree from UW-Milwaukee. She worked as a Tutor for accounting and computer-related courses while in college. Her first position out of college was as a programmer/analyst. Since then, she has worked as a consultant, with her most recent role being Project Manager in the Information Systems Department at Northwestern Mutual.
Maralea also volunteers as a 7th and 8th grade Sunday school teacher, and has taught all grades K through 8th in Junior Achievement.
Maralea and her husband have three sons and a black lab. She enjoys watching her children participate in choir concerts, plays, and sports. She also enjoys creating family videos, biking (she trains for the MS Bike Tour), playing tennis, walking and talking with her friends in the morning. She feels blessed to have a family that is musically talented, especially her husband who plays guitar and sings in a Christian Contemporary band at her home church—Trinity Lutheran in Mequon, WI.
