Miss Kristin Diepenhorst

Kristin Diepenhorst joined BCS as our first grade teacher in the fall of 2011.  Before coming to Brookfield Christian, she taught first grade for two years at a Christian bilingual school in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  She loves teaching first graders because of their passion for life and learning.  Kristin is very excited to work with first graders this year at BCS!

Kristin grew up in Holland, Michigan, and attended Holland Christian schools.  She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Elementary Education and majors in Spanish and Special Education.  In addition to having lived in Honduras for two years, Kristin has studied in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, photography, traveling, running, and drinking coffee.

One of Miss Diepenhorst’s favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Miss Diepenhorst’s Mission Statement

“As a Christian teacher, it is my goal to encourage young believers.  Teaching first graders to read, respond, and apply the Bible to daily life is so important!   ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road…’ (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).  I see my students as covenant children who are individually created in God’s image, redeemed by Christ’s sacrifice, and guided by the Spirit.

First graders’ curiosity and love of learning make the first grade classroom a vibrant place to be!  This is an essential year of growth for students, and there are many changes happening.  First graders have seemingly endless energy, excitement, and readiness to learn.  It is my responsibility as their teacher to guide them as they grow and desire to discover more about God’s creation.  It is my prayer that God will bless our walk together through this first grade year!

Having recently taught in Honduras has given me not only experience in teaching, but also a broader world view.  Central America has helped shape my understanding, and my experiences have enabled me to see the body of Christ in a more complete way.  I hope to share this passion with students at BCS to help them broaden their understandings of God’s incredible world!  I am excited to ‘walk along the road’ with students, families, and staff at Brookfield Christian!”
