Shovels painted by the 5th grade class.

THE SKIES WERE GRAY, BUT THE VISION CLEAR as students and supporters gathered on March 21, 2000 to break ground on BCS's $1.2 million expansion project. Among the dignitaries on hand were individuals who began this journey back in 1957 with fervent prayer and diligent planning.

Original founders, still leading the way.

Students poured out from the classrooms, donning plastic construction hats. After Principal/Administrator Bob Wiers opened with prayer, Master of Ceremonies Rob Buikema spoke about BCS's past. Rob then introduced Mike Brown, Project Director for MSI General (general contractor) who gave details about the new expansion project. Brookfield Mayor Kathryn Bloomberg spoke to the crowd about the city's role in the expansion. Following the mayor, Student Council President Connie Du Mez (grade 8) talked about the future of BCS.
