Mrs. Hofman, Grade 1

“FIRST GRADERS LOVE TO LEARN about everything. There are huge steps of progress in their abilities that are so exciting to watch,” says Carolyn Hofman, our first grade teacher at Brookfield Christian School since 1985. She originally began at BCS teaching 3rd and 4th grade from 1969-1972.

Carolyn’s excitement and intensity for learning inspires her young students to work hard at everything they do. “Working with Christian families that are dedicated to bringing up their children for the Lord” is what she really likes about teaching at BCS.

When she’s not spending time with her husband and 2 grown children, Carolyn loves working in the garden and reading. “All to the glory of God” is her focus in life. That philosophy is evident in her classroom, as she sees each one of her students as a unique child of God, and has committed over 18 years to training them up for His glory and honor.

Mrs. Hofman’s Mission Statement:

“Being a first grade teacher is an awesome responsibility. Not one that could ever be attempted without guidance and help from above. Each of these young children is a precious gift from God. Each has special needs to be loved and taught in a way unique to themselves. The task of bringing God's Word and world to each one in a way that will imprint on their lives is a task that requires constant study and prayer. Each subject taught, each project that we do, each problem that we solve, each story that we read, all must be done in the light of God's Word. It is a great responsibility but it brings great joy.

“The process of learning to read brings delight in this way God has given us to communicate. When we work with numbers we marvel at the patterns we see as our number sense develops. This sense of wonder jumps out at us when we learn about God's world in science. The blessings of our country and communities becomes clear in our study of social studies. At all times, as our minds grasps new understandings, we learn to appreciated the gift of being able to developed in mind and body as God intended.

“As we work, change and grow together in our classroom each day, we will seek to ever shine with a brighter light for our God.”
