Mr. Vos’s Educational Philosophy and Mission
“As a Christian educator I am called to create a learning environment where students can clearly see the connection between their faith and learning. It is our job as a school to intentionally show our students, on a daily basis, how their faith impacts and informs every part of their lives.
“Our task is not simply to prepare them for the next grade or for high school or college. Although that is an important part of what we do, we must go further. Our goal is also to equip our students for a life of service to God in which they can live out the calling that he has given them. Thus, we must expose them to all different aspects of learning. The subjects we teach must incorporate the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual aspects of a child’s development and learning.
“Furthermore, we need to see each child as a unique individual created by God. They are not just numbers or containers in which to store information. Instead, they are creative, thinking individuals who learn along with us as we travel the path God has laid out before us. The students themselves must be active participants in their learning and we must guide and direct them as we together learn more about this world in which God has called us to live and serve.”
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.’” – Jeremiah 29:11-12:
