Laurie Smith has a gift for relating to students, and puts her gift to use as Guidance Counselor at BCS. Her duties include classroom guidance, individual and small group counseling, supervising the Student Council and Administrative Council, coordinating middle chapel, school social events and organizing a middle school retreat.
Laurie has a strong background in Christian education, having attended Christian elementary and high school. Mrs. Smith has her BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts from Calvin College in Grand Rapid, Michigan. In 1999, Laurie earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Not only is Laurie a reliable listening ear and a guiding hand, but she also has a knack for creating memories for BCS students that they’ll carry beyond their years at the school. Mrs. Smith takes a genuine interest in all students, and maintains that interest long after graduation.
