Mady & Jessica Memorial Fund

Mady & Jessica
People have asked how they can contribute to the Mady and Jessica Memorial Fund. Mady Marshel was a 3K student at Brookfield Christian School.  She and her mother Jessica Ellenberger were tragically killed last weekend.  Mady’s grandparents have generously designated BCS as a recipient of memorial gifts to honor Mady and Jessica.

Brookfield Christian School is honored to receive these memorial gifts and we will determine a fitting way to honor Mady and Jessica with the gifts. If you would like to contribute, you can write a check to “Brookfield Christian School” with “Mady and Jessica Memorial Fund” in the memo.

Meet the Principal: Mr. Vos

MeetThePrincipal

Brookfield Christian School’s fearless leader, Mr. Kevin Vos, joined the school as principal and administrator in 2013. Since then, he’s been actively shepherding staff and students at BCS — whether it’s holding the door open before school, loading kids into cars after school, leading assembly prayer, organizing with parents, strategizing with teachers, laughing with students. But, how much do we know about Mr. Vos? Read on to see who captains the BCS ship.

Hometown: Wisconsin Rapids, WI

Pets: None

College Alma mater: Dordt College (undergraduate), Calvin College (graduate)

Hobbies: running, staying fit, shooting hoops, projects around the house, reading

Were you always a principal? No, I taught 2nd/3rd grade for a long time (17 years).

If I wasn’t a principal, I would be (fill in the blank). Why? If I wasn’t a principal, I would like to be in the FBI or something similar.  It’s always intrigued me.

Who are/were your role models? I count my mentor teacher in college and my mentor professor in graduate school as important role models.  They were both influential in guiding me down the educational path I’ve taken.  I don’t know if a spouse counts as a role model, but I greatly admire my wife.  She is a rock who has always challenged and supported me in my efforts to be the best husband, father, and educator possible.

What is your favorite:

School subject? I’ve always loved history.

Sports team? I’m a Packer fan. You can’t be born in Wisconsin and cheer for another team.

Bible verse? Right now it’s Psalm 139:14

Color? Blue

Book? I like most anything written by Jeff Shaara.  If we are talking children’s literature, I love Patricia Polacco.

Song? Right now I like “My Story” by Big Daddy Weave.  I’m also a fan of good 80s music.

Movie? A Few Good Men, Star Wars

Food? It’s a toss up between taco salad and pizza.

Ice cream flavor? Blue Moon

If you could have one superpower, what would it be? To see the future.  It would come in handy for my job as a principal!

Favorite vacation: Any time in Maui is a good time.

Favorite thing about BCS: The sense of community here is like none other.

Best piece of advice for today’s generation: Be confident in who you are since you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Use your God-given talents to bless others. Communicate openly and directly with everyone.
