Laurie has a strong background in Christian education, having attended Christian elementary and high school. Mrs. Smith has her BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts from Calvin College in Grand Rapid, Michigan. In 1999, Laurie earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Not only is Laurie a reliable listening ear and a guiding hand, but she also has a knack for creating memories for BCS students that they’ll carry beyond their years at the school. Mrs. Smith takes a genuine interest in all students, and maintains that interest long after graduation.

Laurie is married and has two grown sons, both graduates of BCS. She and her husband attend Brookfield Christian Reformed Church. In her free time Mrs. Smith enjoys riding bikes, walking, hiking and traveling.

Mrs. Smith’s favorite Bible passage is Psalm 121 as it talks about God’s protection and constant presence in our lives.

When asked what she loves most about BCS, Mrs. Smith shared, “I love the history of our school and especially the stories told by alumni of how much fun they had and how much the teachers meant to them. Usually these stories end with the phrase,’That was the best!'”
