Apple Pie Day 2019

On October 18, we'll come together for our 20th year of making our "famous" Dutch apple pies!  BCS parents and staff members along with BCS alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and members of the community will gather to make 3700+ pies.  We're going to have a great time! Watch this page or our social media accounts for information on signing up to help and ordering pies.

All About Apple Pie Day

How do we do it?

Wednesday night, you’ll find many helping hands assembling boxes and setting up. On Thursday morning, topping is made and that evening, hundreds of bushels of apples are delivered. By Friday night, hundreds of pounds of sugar, flour, cinnamon and apples are transformed into thousands of the most delicious Dutch apple pies you’ll ever taste!

Who can take part?

We welcome help from all over! Parents, staff, alumni, grandparents and friends of the school all show up to pitch in. High school students, including many BCS alumni, come from all over the area to help (and earn volunteer hours!), adding a welcome surge of youthful enthusiasm. Everyone has a great time on the assembly line renewing acquaintances, peeling, coring, slicing, inspecting, filling, boxing, bagging, hauling, and cleaning.

How can I get my hands on some of those pies?

Pies can be ordered by contacting your favorite BCS student, contacting our school office, and an online link will be available closer to the date.

How can I help during the event?

Many opportunities for people of all ages are available to make this event the huge success it is. Online volunteer registration will open closer to the date for on-site help. We also welcome donations of food and beverages to feed the hungry volunteers throughout the day.

If you would like to help underwrite the costs of some of the materials needed to make and package the pies, please contact our Apple Pie Day Coordinators.
