“Society” is the original term the founders of the school used for the active supporters of the school.  Brookfield Christian School is operated by a Society, or school community, of parents and supporters. If you are a parent or supporter of BCS, you are a member of the BCS Society. That means that God is entrusting you, along with your Christian brothers and sisters, with stewardship of BCS. The BCS Society elects a School Board to oversee the operation of the school, primarily through the work of the Administrator and the Board Committees. In April of each year, the Society meets to elect new Board members, approve the next year’s budget, and hear reports from the Board.

“CSI” is an acronym for Christian Schools International, a worldwide organization serving over 400 Christian Schools. We are accredited by CSI to ensure we maintain high educational standards. This affiliation offers BCS a broad range of resources to meet the needs of students and staff.

The Brookfield Christian School Foundation was created to provide individuals with a stewardship opportunity that helps build a long-term, stable, financial support base for the school. Donations to the Foundation are placed in a safe, steadily-growing investment account. A designated amount generated by this account is given annually to BCS to assist in meeting its operating budget. In this way, the Foundation not only supports the day-to-day operation of BCS but also helps build the school’s long-term fiscal stability. Brookfield Christian students continually perform well on standardized tests, but more importantly, surveys from graduates show they are well-prepared for the rigors of high school.  In addition, BCS takes pride in serving students of all academic abilities, recognizing that students are unique individuals with unique learning needs.  Finally, BCS understands that the essentials — reading, math, writing, science, Bible, and social studies — are important.  However, providing classes in Art, PE, music, choir, and foreign language is also a significant component of an overall educational experience that exposes students to the richness of learning.

Brookfield Christian is an independent, multi-denominational private school. There are more than 35 churches represented at BCS, including Brookfield Christian Reformed Church, Brookfield Lutheran Church, Brookside Baptist, Elmbrook Church and Spring Creek Church. The school was founded in 1964 by members of Brookfield Christian Reformed Church. 

The governing body of the school is the BCS Society—parents and other interested supporters, represented by an elected School Board. While BCS enjoys the support and participation of a number of churches, we are a parent-governed organization.  No church’s council has direct governing authority over the school.

Our regular school day begins at 8:15am and ends at 3:15pm, Monday through Friday.  Wraparound care is available from 7:00am-8:00am and and 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Yes.  Before School Care is available from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. with a cost of $5/student for a full hour and $2.50/student after 7:30 a.m.  After School Care hours are from 3:15 – 5:30 p.m. with a cost of $5/student per hour. You do not need to sign up in advance for wraparound care.  Billing is done monthly, based on usage. 

Busing is available to those living in the Elmbrook School District. Transportation reimbursement may be availble for families living in other districts.  Contact our school office for more information.

Our goal is to meaningfully integrate technology into student learning.  To do this, we lay a foundation for future success in the early grades that includes typing skills and learning the basics of the Google suite of programs (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.).  Those skills, along with what it means to be a responsible digital citizen, continue to be utilized and reinforced throughout the grade levels.  Our IDEA (Innovation, Design, Engineering and the Arts) Lab lends itself to a variety of STEM activities that includes both hands-on and digital learning opportunities including coding and movie-making.  Students have access to chromebooks, iPads, document cameras, and other equipment to enhance their learning.

No. Students from BCS proceed to many different area high schools, both public and private.  We maintain contact with students after they begin high school to determine how well prepared they are, and how well they are adjusting. Students from BCS report that they have made a smooth transition to high school, and are very well equipped academically, socially, and spiritually. About half of our students attend the public high school in their district, such as Brookfield East, Brookfield Central, Sussex Hamilton, Menomonee Falls, Wauwatosa East, etc.  Those who choose private schools usually attend Lake Country Lutheran, Milwaukee Lutheran, Wisconsin Lutheran or Heritage Christian.

Prospective 4K students must be four years old and kindergarten students must be five years old by September 1 of the school year. Prospective 3K students must be potty-trained and three years old by September 1 of the school year.

Brookfield Christian uses a workshop approach to teaching reading and writing.  Students learn reading skills within the context of books that meet their needs and abilities.  We believe that reading is constructing meaning from the written word. The components of skilled reading include phonics/word study, reading fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. Our phonetic instruction includes letter/sound relationships, word families and patterns, blending sounds, and long word attack skills. Students are taught to respond to and evaluate the written word from a Christian perspective.

Families from about 15 different area communities send their children to BCS, including: Brookfield, Elm Grove, Germantown, Greendale, Menomonee Falls, Mequon, Milwaukee, Mukwonago, Nashotah, New Berlin, Pewaukee, St. Francis, Sussex, Waukesha, and Wauwatosa.
