Ms. Gale Pearson

Ms. Pearson joined the BCS staff in the fall of 1990.  She teaches our third grade students, guiding them through a year of transitions and changes. One of the things Gale loves about teaching her 8- and 9-year-olds is that they are now “making the transition from learning to read, to reading to learn.” The Living Wax Museum (also known as “Facebook Through the Ages”) is a highlight of the year. Ms. Pearson is known for having her students fill a time capsule during the year that they will open after they graduate in 8th grade.  Students always enjoy looking back at the things they stowed away!

In her free time she enjoys aerobic dancing, volunteering for the American Cancer Society, and reading. She is also a teacher consultant for the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance.

“As a Christian educator, I look to God for strength, wisdom, and encouragement in performing my tasks. I am responsible for instructing, guiding, encouraging, and supporting students as they grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

“Realizing that God has given them different intellectual abilities, I need to use a variety of methods in order to reach students at different levels and in different ways. I also need to provide as often as possible a multi-level curriculum to provide intellectual growth for all students.

“We learn about the Fruit of the Spirit (what we have when God rules our hearts)—love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control—and individually reflect on examples of God’s spirit at work in our lives.

“God has called us not only into a relationship with himself, but also into relationships with others. It is my responsibility to guide and correct students in the classroom, hallways, and at recess so that their behavior exhibits Christian love. It is also my role to provide group assignments and activities so that students learn how to work together.

“Emotional growth will occur primarily through modeling. How do I handle disappointment? What is the tone of my voice when someone is rude to me? How do I admit when I am wrong? “At the end of each school year, we reflect on our various areas of growth and praise God for his care.”

Ms. Pearson shares that “teaching at BCS is a joy because I can share my faith in God through teaching, and I am supported in my walk with God by Christian colleagues and parents.”
