Ms. Durant joined the BCS staff in the fall of 2013 and has been teaching our 4th grade class since 2015. Beginning in the fall of 2022, she will be serving as a second grade teacher. Her passion for her students and making her classroom a warm and inviting place is evident as soon as you enter her classroom.

Ms. Durant grew up in Waupun, WI where she attended Central Wisconsin Christian School from Kindergarten through High School. She graduated from Dordt College in May 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Reading. In her free time, Kelli enjoys reading, biking, running, rollerblading, cake decorating, photography, and volunteering in area communities and churches. She loves to keep busy by using her talents and abilities to further the Kingdom of God.

Kelli’s life verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” She chose this verse in middle school when she was searching for her path in life and learning to trust in the Lord. Kelli says she holds this verse at the forefront of her life and seeks to walk with the Lord in whatever path and mission He directs her to.

“My mission as an educator is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the lives of His children. I have always had a passion for working with children and this passion has led me to pursue a career in education. It is my belief that my career is not just a job, but a life calling. I am committed to giving my full time and energy into my life calling. I do not treat teaching as an everyday job but instead as an opportunity to live out my calling that God has led me to.

I am very blessed to have had my parents send me to a Christian school from elementary through high school. They made this sacrifice because they knew it was important and committed to providing me with a Christian foundation. Therefore, I also made a sacrifice and committed myself to choosing to attend a Christian college. God has truly blessed me through this decision and has equipped me with a degree that came from supportive, Christian professors and also allowed me to flourish in my faith as I sought to rely on God and put my complete trust in Him. I firmly believe in Christian education as everything we do in life should be done to the glory of our Father in Heaven.

Through my teaching, I hope that I can help students to discover their talents and abilities and help them see how they can use them in the Kingdom of God. I want my students to know that they were all uniquely created in the image of God and have a specific calling in life planned out for them. I will use the gifts that God has given to me to help my students see God in all areas of life and to love Him more and more as their Savior and Lord. Together as teacher and students, we will share our faith with one another and grow together as the body of Christ, so that we can actively spread the good news of Christ in our world.”
